Production stopped in Syria around 2000-2005 due to laws imposed against the massive deforestation necessary to cure latakia leaves by fire, big tobacco extensive efforts to move production to more easily accessible countries, syrian civil war in 2011 (which led to the destruction of another 20% of the forest area in all the country) and some other factors.
Right now there is still some local production but the curing is done in other countries such as Türkiye or Cyprus. Since 2015, no pipe tobacco manufacturer has made a tin with it, being “Vintage Latakia” by Mac Baren the last one large batch produced. We will be able to have it as a flavor for a few years. Original Syria Latakia will disappear sooner or later though, when the small stocks run out. Enjoy while you can.
12ml concentrated aroma to dilute at 10-12% in neutral base. We recommend using a 50/50 ratio of vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. Store in a cool, dry place protected from direct light.
